You will start in beautiful Ljubljana, walk the trails on charming Velika Planina, and soak in the picture-perfect views at Lake Bled. You will fall in love with Lake Bohinj and hike to some spectacular viewpoints within the Triglav National Park.
The Soca Valley will amaze you with its 100 shades of turquoise and southern Slovenia will add a Mediterranean touch to this walking trip. Feel the power of nature in Skocjan caves, taste some of the best organic wines in Slovenia, and finish in delightful Piran on the Adriatic coast.

The Moderate to Hard guided hiking holiday is more difficult. Please make sure your fitness level is very good when you select these.
This fabulous hiking trip combines wonderful 3-day trekking through the Triglav National Park with stunning moderate day hikes in western Slovenia.
After a fun night out in Ljubljana, we will head to the Julian Alps and spend two nights in cosy mountain huts. We are doing one of the most beautiful short hut-to-hut hikes in Slovenia, passing through the beautiful Valley of Seven Triglav Lakes and taking in the impressive views of the highest Slovenian peaks.
Once we are done with the hut-to-hut hike, we will have a swim in the crystal-clear Lake Bohinj and explore the best views around the stunning Lake Bled. We will drive the famous Vrsic mountain road and discover the off-the-beaten-path hiking trails in the area.
The emerald Soca Valley will serve us with some amazing easy walks, a steep climb to the mighty Mt. Mangart, and cold river pools to refresh after our hiking adventures. We will wrap up this unforgettable hiking trip with top-notch food and wine in the Vipava Valley before heading back to Ljubljana.

Hiking Adventure Itinerary Easy to Moderate:
Day 1 – arrival to Ljubljana, meet your guide, enjoy free time in Ljubljana. Rather than arriving late, we suggest coming a day earlier so you can explore the picturesque old city center, its historic landmarks, and impressive architecture.
Day 2 – visit to Velika Planina (The Big Meadow), Slovenia’s biggest and most charming alpine pasture, which is also known as Europe’s largest and oldest active shepherds’ settlement. After the walk, we’ll encourage you to participate in making some traditional Slovenian food, then treat you to a delicious home-cooked lunch in a very special place: our best-kept secret. You’ll return to Ljubljana in the afternoon and are free to enjoy an evening to yourself. 10 km / elevation gain +300m, -300m / approx. 3 hours
Day 3 – Lake Bled and Lake Bohinj visit, which are about a one-hour drive from Ljubljana. The walking trip at Lake Bohinj will take you through typical villages, beside crystal-clear streams that feed the lake, as well as along its gorgeous shores and deep gorges with spectacular mountain scenery. A swim in Lake Bohinj is an absolute must, so don’t forget your swimsuit!
After a nice lunch, you’ll go to Lake Bled and walk to its most adorable viewpoint, where you’ll enjoy views over this lovely lake with its iconic island and a medieval castle perched on the edge of a rocky cliff. If you prefer, you can skip the viewpoint walking trip and instead relax by the lake and swim in its fresh waters. 14 km / elevation gain +400m, -400m / approx. 4 hours (split in two hikes)
Day 4 – most challenging day of this walking holiday in Slovenia in Triglav National Park. We’ll visit a peak of almost 2000 meters above sea level with spectacular views of the jagged glacial valley and Mt. Triglav itself. Alternatively, you can skip the summit ascent by cutting the hike short at the lovely mountain hut, where you can enjoy some downtime or take the rest of the day off instead. 12 km / elevation gain +700m, -700m / approx. 5 hours
Day 5 – day to enjoy a series of shorter walks and admire a rich diversity of landscape. Pericnik Waterfall in the Vrata Valley before heading towards the heart of the Julian Alps along the high mountain road are on the agenda today. Time permitting we will stop for a refreshing swim in the inviting pools of the Soca river. 10 km / elevation gain +400m, -400m / approx. 4 hours
Day 6 – walking Soca trail and emerald Soca River. After the hiking, the allure of the emerald Soca River will tempt you to go for a swim in its turquoise colour waters. The afternoon is reserved for water & other adventure activities: Go rafting or canyoning on the beautiful Soca river and its tributaries, go paragliding, or slide down a zip-line! If such adventures are not your cup of tea, you’ll be able to do some more walking and find a perfect spot by the river to rest your feet, and enjoy Soca Valley’s pure nature! 12 km / elevation gain +250m, -250m / approx. 4 hours
Day 7 – visit Skocjan Caves and Piran. Today you’ll explore south-western Slovenia, its karst landscapes and phenomena, as well as the northernmost arm of the Mediterranean Sea, the Slovenian Adriatic Coast. In the afternoon, we’ll explore the loveliest town on the Slovenian coast, Piran. Your guide leaves the group tonight and returns to Ljubljana. 7 km / elevation gain +150m, -150m / approx. 3 hours
Day 8 – departure, airport transfers

Mountain hut shared rooms and washrooms (4-12 beds)
Day 3 – today, the most challenging day of the trip takes you through the heart of the Julian Alps. You’ll be rewarded with breathtaking views over the highest summits of the Slovenian, Italian and Austrian Alps. As the gravel path turns downhill, you’ll join the Via Alpina Trail and Slovenian Mountain Trail leading through the valley of the Seven Triglav Lakes. Mountain hut shared rooms and washrooms (4-12 beds)
Day 4 – in the morning you’ll head across the scree slope to a little mountain saddle between two peaks, a doorway to the land of alpine pastures. After returning from the peak, you’ll leave the highest and most extensive mountain range in Slovenia behind for a while. From here on you’ll trek along a limestone pavement surrounded by sinkholes and dwarf pines, leading to lush green forests and alpine pastures. We’ll round up the three-day hike with an unforgettable swim in the crystal clear waters of Lake Bohinj, Slovenia’s largest permanent lake. Afterward, we will drive to the spectacular Lake Bled, where the group will still have some time to explore and have dinner on their own. 8 km / elevation +200 m, -800 m / approx. 4 hours
Day 5 – hiking at Lake Bled & the Vrsic mountain pass. 10 km / elevation gain +650 m, -650 m / approx. 5 hours split into 3 different hikes
Day 6 – hiking and adventures in the Soca Valley. Today brings many different options. Given the elevation difference, you can choose a relatively short hike to Mt Mangart, the third highest peak in Slovenia and the highest in the Soca Valley. If you’re looking for more of a thrill, opt for adventures like kayaking, rafting, zip-lining, and even canyoning. 8 km / elevation gain +650 m, -650 m / approx. 5 hours
Day 7 – experience the Vipava Valley wine region. This morning we’ll head further south from the untamed alpine terrain, and by late afternoon end up in the rolling hills of one of Slovenia’s best wine regions. After dinner, the guide will take you back to Ljubljana where you will enjoy the nice atmosphere of the Slovenian capital. 9 km / elevation gain +300 m, -300 m / approx. 2.5 hours
Day 8 – departure, airport transfers
