Best of Slovakia, bike tour

Your ultimate 7-day bike adventure Slovakia!

This is probably the best self-guided bike tour in Slovakia. Your 7-day bike trip in northern Slovakia can become an experience of the year. It is 240 kilometres to ride from Orava and Liptov regions, along deep valleys of the Low Tatras and alpine peaks of the High Tatras to gorges and rocks of the Pieniny National Park.

You will cycle through the Carpathian forests, meadows, villages, towns and valleys. Refresh yourself at authentic local pubs and restaurants along the route and refill your energy at cosy guest houses. You can also prolong the cycling holidays by adding one or more of the four extensions, 2 or 3 days each.

As this is a self-guided cycling holiday, you can pick the dates to suit your plans!

Day 1 – Bratislava and train journey to the North. In the morning, we start with the guided bike tour in Bratislava (2-3 hours), to give you a perspective into Slovak history and identity before your journey. In case of a bike rental, you will try the bicycles and bags and test if all works well. After lunch, you take a train from Bratislava to the Orava region. Overnight at the guest house in Oravský Podzámok under the Orava Castle.
Day 2 – Orava Castle and Kvacianska Gorge (38km, +590 m). In the morning, you have a chance to visit the legendary charming Orava Castle, where the first Nosferatu movie was filmed in 1922. Then you have enough time to enjoy the bike ride with some climbs through mountainous landscapes with scenic views from Orava to Liptov region. You will have an option to do a short scenic hike in Prosiecka and Kvačianska valleys or bike up to Žiarska mountain hut in Western Tatras.
Day 4 – Low Tatras and Spisska Sobota (68km, +590m). The longest stage connects Liptov and Spiš regions.
